Costs Draftsman - Early Career

A specialist, boutique legal costs firm currently in a controlled growth phase is making its Q1 priority hire. The firm is small (3 people today) with plans for 3 new hires in 2026, and this role has not been publicly advertised. The Director is personally training the team and is prioritising the right person over volume recruitment.

• ·Draft Judicial Review bills (typically £30k-£60k) cradle to grave
• ·Take instruction and ownership of client files
• ·Work across a wide range of cost bills
• ·Progress over time into multi-million-pound commercial bills
• ·Manage caseload, deadlines and file organisation with minimal supervision

• ·2-4 years' experience within legal costs
• ·Past the basics but still developing - motivated to step into more responsibility
• ·Ideally a degree with 2:1 or above from a reputable university
• ·Self-motivated, organised and reliable
• ·Open to doing things differently
• ·Judicial Review or commercial costs experience useful but not essential - training provided

• ·£30,000-£35,000 basic salary
