About the Opportunity

We are supporting a highly regarded commercial law firm with the appointment of a Costs Draftsperson into its established Litigation Costs team. The firm combines high technical standards with a collaborative, people focused culture and is recognised for providing commercially focused advice and excellent client service. This is an excellent opportunity for a Costs Draftsperson with approximately two to four years' experience to join a respected and growing legal costs practice, preparing costs documentation across a broad range of litigation matters while working alongside experienced costs professionals. The position sits exclusively within the Litigation Costs team and will not involve Court of Protection costs work.

Responsibilities

  • ·Prepare traditional and electronic bills of costs across a varied litigation caseload
  • ·Draft costs budgets and statements of costs
  • ·Review client files and extract the information required for accurate bill preparation
  • ·Work across matters including clinical negligence, serious personal injury, commercial litigation, professional negligence, property litigation and contentious probate
  • ·Assist with Points of Dispute and Replies, depending on experience
  • ·Support costs budgeting and negotiation work
  • ·Advise internal and external clients on costs recovery and procedural requirements
  • ·Manage deadlines while maintaining consistently high standards of accuracy
  • ·Build strong working relationships and help achieve effective, proportionate and commercially sound outcomes

What We're Looking For

  • ·Approximately two to four years' experience in legal costs, although relevant applications outside this range will be considered
  • ·Practical experience preparing bills of costs within litigation matters
  • ·A sound understanding of civil costs procedures and the relevant rules
  • ·Strong attention to detail, organisation and confidence reviewing complex files
  • ·A commercial, client focused approach with clear written and verbal communication skills
  • ·Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with an interest in long term progression within legal costs
