About the Opportunity
Our client, a progressive Top 100 UK law firm, is seeking an Associate to join its Clinical Negligence team in Bristol. The team advises on a broad spectrum of clinical negligence matters, ranging from birth injury to dental negligence, and is trusted by clients to handle both straightforward and complex cases with empathy and expertise. The successful candidate will specialise in high value birth injury cases, developing their own client relationships, mentoring junior members of the team and contributing to the department's strategic goals within a supportive and ambitious practice.
Responsibilities
- ·Specialise in high value birth injury cases
- ·Build credibility with clients and develop own client relationships through managing expectations regarding options, outcomes, risk and timescales
- ·Manage and deal effectively with a variety of transactional projects and matters
- ·Scope fees for existing clients
- ·Develop market and sector knowledge and demonstrate expertise to clients
- ·Be proactive in reducing risk and exposure within the team and support in building a risk culture
- ·Grow internal and external networks of clients, intermediaries and contacts
- ·Support juniors in the team by providing technical, business and general advice
- ·Manage time recording, WIP monitoring and billing consistently on files and matters
- ·Work toward personal and team KPIs, measuring performance against these
- ·Align personal activities and objectives with the department's strategic goals
What We're Looking For
- ·Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 4 PQE (essential)
- ·Experience in higher value and complex birth injury litigation (essential)
- ·Previous experience with complex clinical negligence matters (essential)
- ·Ability to coach and mentor junior lawyers (essential)
