About the Opportunity

An award-winning, no win no fee firm established in 2000, headquartered in Manchester and ranked 64th in The Lawyer UK Top 200. The firm specialises exclusively in claimant personal injury and clinical negligence and is hiring an experienced Costs Lawyer to handle a cradle-to-grave caseload of fast-track and multi-track matters.

Responsibilities

  • ·Handle own caseload of cradle-to-grave costs matters
  • ·Negotiate settlement of costs in litigated and non-litigated claimant PI cases
  • ·Advise fee earners on costs disputes and assist with negotiations
  • ·Prepare summary assessment schedules, breakdowns and formal bills for detailed assessment or Part 8 proceedings
  • ·Draft replies to Points of Dispute
  • ·Draft and revise budgets
  • ·Advocacy / attend CCMCs
  • ·Support more junior team members

What We're Looking For

  • ·12 months - 5 years' fast/multi-track claimant PI costs experience
  • ·Legal qualification (LLB, GDL, LPC) desirable
  • ·Drafting skills across Precedent H, R and Q and formal bills
  • ·Experience attending CCMCs on behalf of the claimant
  • ·Experience of budget discussions and working to target
  • ·Working knowledge of the CPR and detailed assessment process
  • ·Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • ·MS Office literacy; Proclaim and CostsMaster advantageous
  • ·In-house experience beneficial
