About the Opportunity
A specialist legal costs consultancy is appointing a Senior Legal Aid Costs Lawyer to lead its Legal Aid Costs function. This is not a volume-driven drafting role - it offers strategic influence, real autonomy and the chance to become the go-to specialist within a highly respected firm.
Responsibilities
- ·Manage complex legal aid costs matters from inception through to completion
- ·Prepare and manage High Cost Case Plans at hourly rates
- ·Handle inter partes costs work on complex claimant matters
- ·Advise on legal aid costs strategy and technical queries
- ·Support the ongoing development of the firm's legal aid offering
- ·Operate as the lead specialist within the department
What We're Looking For
- ·Qualified Costs Lawyer or highly experienced Senior Costs Draftsperson
- ·Strong background in legal aid costs, including High Cost Case Plans
- ·Exposure to inter partes work
- ·Experience across complex claimant litigation - ideally Clinical Negligence and/or Human Rights
- ·Confident operating independently on a specialist caseload
